Finding a home in Daejeon: what to check before signing
Source checked ·
Before viewing a home, write down your commute destination, move-in date, room needs, available deposit and monthly budget. Compare rent together with management charges and utilities; ask which bills are included.
Prepare for the viewing and contract • Give the agent your requirements. Check the agent’s registration details and the language available for explaining the contract. • Compare the actual address with the property details in the paperwork. Ask for explanations of the property and any relevant rights or obligations. • Have the deposit, rent, charges, payment dates, term, repairs and early departure conditions explained in writing. Ask for verbal promises to be written into the contract. • Keep your contract copy and payment records. Photograph existing damage and record the condition of facilities before moving in.
Useful question: “관리비에는 무엇이 포함되나요? 수리 책임과 중도 퇴거 조건을 계약서에 적어 주세요.” It means, “What do the management charges include? Please write the repair responsibilities and early departure conditions into the contract.” Ask for an explanation before signing anything you do not understand. The city’s foreign-resident center can be asked about available support.
