Confirm SIM fees and identity-verification support separately.
LIVING IN KOREA · A NUMBER IN YOUR NAME
For a first line, start with a KT store
A residence card does not automatically make online activation work. Without an existing verification method, start with a store you can visit.
- Prepare
- Residence card, your phone, and a Korean bank account or Korean credit card for payment. KT’s general guide requires at least 90 days of remaining stay.
- Price reference
- Online-only Yogo30: ₩30,000/month including VAT, 5GB then up to 400Kbps, no term contract. This is not a store-plan quote; check SIM fees.
- Help
- 080-448-0100 · weekdays 09:00–18:00 · English, Chinese and other languages
Use KT’s official store finder and look for 대전 / Daejeon.
Tell the adviser if you do not have a Korean account or card for payment. If you need a bank account first, use the branch route below.
Show the Korean sentence below. Confirm the subscriber details match your ID, bank-app verification works for the line, and the store plan’s upfront and monthly costs before applying.
Already have a phone in your name and a verification method? The self-activation guide is another route. It requires age 19+, presence in Korea and an unused KT USIM, among other conditions. Check before buying a SIM.
Yogo30 is online-only; a store cannot be assumed to offer the same plan. Eligibility for a plan and support for bank identity verification must each be confirmed.
RESIDENCE CARD + PHONE IN YOUR NAME
Apply with Shinhan SOL Global
A banking app for foreign residents. Its official guide offers video verification when you do not have another Korean bank account.
- Bring
- A Korean foreign registration card, domestic residence report card or permanent residence card, plus a phone registered in your name. A passport alone is not enough for this app route.
- Verify
- Verify a bank account in your own name using the app’s ₩1 deposit check, or use the in-app video-call route if you have no account. Check video-call availability in the app.
- Help
- 1577-8380 · weekdays 09:00–18:00 · English and Chinese support
Install SOL Global using the official store buttons and choose your language.
Start an everyday bank account application: verify your phone → photograph your ID → verify by ₩1 transfer or video call.
Complete the requested details and review the terms. If approved, check transfer limits and apply for a debit card if needed.
If phone or ID verification blocks you, use the branch route below. Opening an account is subject to bank review.
PASSPORT ONLY OR APP VERIFICATION ISSUES
Prepare for a Woori Bank branch visit
Without a residence card, start with the official passport-and-branch route. Passport-only approval is not guaranteed at every branch.
- ID
- Original passport. Bring your residence card too if you have one.
- Purpose
- Salary: employment certificate, contract or payslip. Student: enrollment certificate, admission letter or tuition receipt. Rent: lease. These are examples, not a requirement to bring every document; confirm which your branch accepts.
- Branch hours
- General hours: weekdays 09:00–16:00. Check the chosen branch’s hours and closures.
- Language help
- 1599-2288 · weekdays 09:00–18:00 · press 1 for English / 2 for Chinese
Use the official branch-finder button and look for 대전 / Daejeon. Use the foreigner-friendly list if you need language support.
Call 1599-2288 with your ID type, account purpose and whether you have a phone in your name. Confirm the documents for that branch.
Visit with originals and apply. If approved, check withdrawal/transfer limits and whether debit cards and mobile banking are available to you.
If you open with a passport, take both IDs to the bank to update your details once your residence card arrives.
